About Pacific Coffee
Established in July 1992 in Hong Kong by Seattle native Tom Neir, Pacific Coffee was acquired by Chevalier Pacific Holdings Ltd. (CPHL) in May 2005. With the new management and improved economy, this renowned coffeehouse has since experienced rapid growth throughout Hong Kong, the Chinese Mainland and Singapore. Investments have been made in the establishment of operations in Beijing and Shanghai, acquisition of a central kitchen, installation of new management systems and a training centre, and recruiting a regional team. In June 2010, China Resources Enterprise, Ltd. (CRE) and CPHL have forged a partnership to further expand the Pacific Coffee business in the Chinese Mainland with CRE being a major shareholder and to have Pacific Coffee developed under the umbrella of CRE’s Retail Business Unit. Pacific Coffee has now developed into a well-known and recognised brand with over 80 coffeehouses in Hong Kong, 5 in the Chinese Mainland, 4 in Singapore, 2 in Malaysia and 1 in Macau.
The idea of
Pacific Coffee was inspired by the coffee culture
of Seattle, where coffeehouses were community hubs,
serving great Italian espresso based coffee in generous
American sizes, with informality and a friendly attitude.
Yet despite its unmistakable international look, and
the strong influence of the Pacific Northwest in its
brand DNA, Pacific Coffee is a Hong Kong-based company
which is competing on an equal footing in this cosmopolitan
city with many international operators. Its Head Office
is based in Sheung Wan, Hong Kong.
About The Brand
The Pacific Coffee
concept is to provide customers with great espresso-based
coffees and beverages, an inviting place to hang out,
and plenty of complementary food choices. It aims
to offer an affordable luxury, a unique coffee experience
to its customers. Prices are reasonably set to ensure
nobody is excluded. Top quality coffee beans are sourced
from around the world and roasted to a unique specification,
which became the trademark rich aroma of Pacific Coffee
Company.
The first Pacific
Coffee coffeehouse was located in Bank of America
Tower in Central - near the expatriate Hong Kong Club
and bars favoured by stockbrokers and finance professionals.
As expected, most of its customers were expatriates
working in nearby offices. This customer profile has
now changed to encompass both local and international
customers who embrace quality, sophistication and
individuality, as they search for a leisurely experience
and enjoyment of gourmet coffee in a comfortable setting
that takes them momentarily away from a hectic city
life. Apart from being a social gathering place, Pacific
Coffee is known to be a favourite among the business
community for informal work meetings. The availability
of free internet stations for customers has also become
a signature of Pacific Coffee.
Even among
intense competition, the increasingly discerning customers
have recognized the authenticity of the Pacific Coffee
brand, its superior product quality and comfortable
environment, as well as its speedy and cheery service.
