Our World of Beans

Varietals

Varietals are coffees served for their bold flavors and natural characteristics, usually named after the geographical region in which they were grown.

Guatemala | Colombian Supremo | Mexican Altura | Jamaican Blue Mountain | Kenya AA | Hawaiian Kona | Costa Rican | Sumatra | Ethiopian Mocha

Guatemala

A fine Central American coffee grown at high altitudes. It displays qualities of the delicate soil in which it was grown. Guatemalan coffees have a very distinct smoky flavor, which comes across as a twist to the acidic tones. The finest Guatemalan coffees are light in body and rich in flavor.

Colombian Supremo

Colombian coffee beans are sorted into two grades - Colombian Supremo and Colombian Excelso. The Colombian Supremo is the higher-grade bean with a richer, superbly balanced lighter body and an overwhelming aroma. This rich velvety smooth coffee is suitable for all occasions and is one of our most popular coffees.

Mexican Altura

With its rich flavor, Mexican Altura has been so named because it is grown at altitudes of over 4,000 feet. Mexican coffees make a handsome roast due to their bigger size and distinct center cut. Mexican Altura coffee exudes a strong aroma and a sweet, smooth round body that produces a very satisfying flavor.

Jamaica Blue Mountain

The high-grown Jamaica Blue Mountain is a glorious, full-flavored and exquisitely fragrant coffee. It is the most highly prized and priced coffee in the world today. The unroasted bean is a distinctive blue-green color. In the cup it is mellow and aromatic, quintessentially a classic coffee in every respect: rich in flavor and aroma, possessing a full body and a perfect subtle balance.

Kenya AA

The high-grown Kenya Arabica is ranked one of the world's finest. Any connoisseur of coffee will know the initial taste sensation - that snappy, rich, well-balanced flavor. The strikingly long finish of this coffee is best described as 'dry', 'winey', and 'lively' in character. The result is a remarkably sweet, fruity aroma that is the trademark of a great coffee.

Hawaiian Kona

Hawaiian Kona is one of the world's most treasured coffees. It is exclusively grown on the southwest side of the Big Island of Hawaii. The flavor is rich, almost nutty and full-bodied with a fine aroma. Cinnamon tones may be detected in the smooth, even flavor. This exotic coffee seduces the palette with its unmistakable flavors.

Costa Rican

Costa Rica offers a high-grown strictly hard bean from the premier growing region on the Pacific slopes. These beautifully processed beans produce a medium-bodied cup with a vibrant tangy aroma, touch of spice and lively, elegant flavors. It is exquisitely smooth and enticing... a fabulous coffee anytime.

Sumatra

There are two superior coffees beans produced in Indonesia - Mandeling (chosen by Pacific Coffee Company) and Ankola. The Mandeling bean is considered to be the most full-bodied coffee in the world. It has relatively low acidity, but enough to keep the cup vibrant and interesting. This bean exudes strength and body with a hint of darkness, producing powerful overtones. Sumatra coffee offers the connoisseur a rich, earthy, flavor.

Ethiopian Mocha

High-grade Ethiopian Mocha coffees have excellent flavor characteristics. In general, coffee cherries are picked from the trees but Ethiopian coffee is allowed to fall to the ground where it is collected. The dense green beans take an even roast and brew up a cup with a penetrating, almost floral aroma and flavor that boasts a moderate, pleasing body and acidity.
